About Ootiboo

ootiboo is a creative education organisation delivering innovative projects and activities into schools and for families at home.

The company believes creativity is a key skill, needed to tackle an uncertain future - and also believes creativity is so much more than just drawing and painting. ootiboo projects are multidisciplinary with creative activities engaging students in a wide range of topics, including empathy, why money matters and ecology.  Freedom to explore and trial and error are actively encouraged, as is, of course, having fun. Through our projects, ootiboo aims to encourage personal development, nurture wellbeing and support mental health.

The Picture-this Project

We were proud to work alongside ootiboo and Picture-This Books™ earlier this year on an exciting project to design the stars for the campaign this year!

The project is based around a fun concept developed by Holly Wadsworth-Hill, author and founder of Picture-This Books™. In her books children read or listen to the story, before going back to the start of the book and illustrating a page or two at a time. This is a mindful journey into a child’s unique imagination. No two finished Picture-This Books™ are ever the same – just like the children illustrating them! Picture-This Books encourage imagination and creativity, whilst nurturing empathy and kindness.

For the project, ootiboo provided a simple digital lesson plan and resource for teachers to deliver in a 1-hour mini workshop. During the project, Holly and Goose delivered 19 workshops to nine ootiboo schools.

Students did not need to be artistic to take part in the project; this was more about imagination rather than art and we wanted it to be fully inclusive.

Teachers submitted entries from students, which were judged by Holly based on imagination and interpretation. The main prize was a special Christmas in September workshop run by Holly for the entire class the stand-out entry came from. Here, students design a decorative Christmas Star which will be used as part of our All Star Advent campaign. The winning school was Beech Class from Poplar Primary School in Merton Park.
